"Galactus"

Been forever since I did and posted an A.C.B.A. display. I have been busy the past 3 months with the "World Tournament" and haven't had the motivation to do displays for fun. It was an intense few months but I decided to do this "Galactus" display before the year ends.
I had this figure for 3 years but it is the first time I'm using it. The inspiration for this was the panel I got the "cut-out" from. The tournament really honed my cutting skills and forced me to learn how to make "dioramas". I benefited greatly from facing off against the A.C.B.A. elite.

"Stargirl"

I am terrible at flight poses but you get better with practise I guess?
Initially thought of doing this scene with "Starman" but went with "Stargirl" instead.

"Bounty"

Got this "IG-88" fig for S$20. "Articulation" is limited though. No wonder it's so cheap.
I regret not getting "Bossk" now.

"Walking electricity"

"Tamashi" has done it again. The new "effects" they made are pretty impressive. It is much bigger than I expected and I ended up leaving the huge pieces out of this display as they would obscure "Livewire" and "Wonder Woman".
I got "Yellow" and "Blue" sets from CSC for different characters and scenes. Definitely a good addition to my "props".

"Idea #101"

Been wanting to do this display since I saw it in a "Fantastic Four" novel. I originally got a "whiteboard" with this scene in mind but the "prop" has a yellow border which was distracting. Had to do it with this budget "blackboard" from "Daiso" instead. I wonder if they will come up with a modern "Reed Richards" in future waves from "Hasbro"?

"Confession"

Thought of this idea of having "Hellboy" confessing his sins to a "Priest" whilst making my way home on the public transport. Funny how an idle mind can have inspiration.
Never been inside a "Confessional" before but I have seen them in the "movies" and this is the closest I could set up a "booth".

"Johann"

"Johann" is one of my favourite B.P.R.D. characters. Used a bunch of new props with this display.

Monday, October 12, 2015

"Secret Warriors"

The "Secret Warriors" is one of my top "Marvel" story-lines but definitely behind "Secret Invasion". I love this casual version of "Fury" and that's why I got "Billy" to make it for me.
I'm still waiting for the "Secret Warriors" version of "Phobos" aka "Alexander". The "lighter" is a cool "prop" that came from a "Reservoir Dogs" figure.

"Deathstroke"

I finally added an "unmasked" version of "Deathstroke" to my collection. I made new "cut-outs" and knew I had to use this one for this display.
 "B-side".

"Yes!!!"

"Boog" is one of the few who religiously watches M.A.T.O. I took a "screenshot" of his latest comment on my channel and used it for this display.
I love the mini "figs" that I got as part of my prop lot.

"Canary"

Went through my prop haul yesterday and found tons of "gems" including this "bird cage".
Not sure which figure the "cage" came from but it is quite unique. Decided to pose it with "Roger" whom I took off the B.P.R.D. vest for the first time.

"Black Lightning"

There are not enough "Ethnic" characters in "comics". Recently saw "Black Lightning" in the "New 52" version of the "Justice League" and thought that he was a cool character except that his appearance was very superficial.
I really loved the 52 series because they delved into deep storylines with the obscure characters and that is seriously lacking now.

"Genius"

I know nothing about this DC "villain" but I couldn't pass up the chance to get him since he was complete with his accessory.
The sculpt and details on "Ultra Humanite" is impressive including his sinister look.

"Lazy Sunday"

Finished my first "Diorama" and had to show it off. Took me about 9 hours to complete including retouching it because I wasn't happy with the initial outcome of my "dry brushing".
I learnt a lot from this experience and I will definitely do better in the future.

Monday, September 28, 2015

"Book of Gods"

Finally got the "Book of Gods" that came with "Roger". Didn't make sense to do this scene with "Roger" though so I used "Abe" instead.

Friday, September 25, 2015

"Moonlight"

Experimented with making my own "Moon". I thought it came out decent.
This is my first time using the "Crow" prop from NECA. The "Katana" came with the "playset" but is a little loose in "Damien's" hand.

"He's not dead. He just doesn't have a body anymore."

Been wanting to make this "cut-out" for the longest time. I finally got down to printing and cutting the deflated "Johann".
I am not good at odd shapes and this was a pain to make.

"Snow Globe"

Was inspired by "Derrick Borecky" to finally get down to making these "cut-outs" and setting up this display.
"Mr Freeze" is one of my favourite "Batman" villain. The "Snow Globe" is very meaningful because I have always been fascinated by them since young.

"Suits"

I've never seen "Reservoir Dogs" before but I couldn't resist getting the figs purely because of the "props" that came with them. The articulation is severely lacking from the figures either wise.
I really need to watch this movie.

"The secret of the Ooze"

It came to me suddenly what to do with the "lab" from the "Muppets" line of toys.
I'm glad I got these "knock-off" TMNT figs. The joints on them are a little loose but still value for money. I decided to only have "Donatello" in this scene because of space constraint.

"The Claw"

Finally got a chance to redo this display as I wasn't happy with the result of "Lobster Johnson" killing a "baddie" previously.
I like the new "cut-outs" I made including "Lobster's" signature "calling card".

"Death claims all"

Spoiler alert!!!
Been wanting to do this display ever since I came across this "cut-out" online but I had to wait till "Death" arrived. I hate that "Hellboy" is dead but "Mike Mignola" has "guts" to kill off his "Cash Cow" but I guess that makes him really stand out from the "cliche" that is the industry where the characters always come back to life.
I threw in a few new "props" I bought from "China" but they are not very obvious as I had to crop off the sides.

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

"Calling card"

Got the WWE "backstage" but it wasn't as I expected because the "section" with the "door" doesn't fit as nicely as I would have liked.
I went back and forth on how to use the "backstage" but I finally settled on this "panel" display. I love "Batman: Year One" and that is what inspired this display with "Batman" and "Jim Gordon".

Monday, August 31, 2015

"Introduction"

Had this "cut-out" made and it was a "no-brainer" that this display had to be done.

It seems weird to have them shaking left hands but it makes sense when you have a "Right Hand of Doom".

I'm surprised the "coat" belonging to "Gambit" fits "Abe" perfectly. The "jacket" from "Wolverine" on the other hand doesn't fit "Liz" that well but I think I made it work.

"G'Nort"

Finally received this fig after a loooooooong delay. Its very limited in "articulation" with zero joints on the legs but it does have movement on the jaw and tail.
Thanks to "Jeremy" for the "rubble" pieces.

"Foes"

Received "props" from China and was a little annoyed that the "Christmas tree" was crushed in transit.

I reminisced about the final scene from the first "X-Men" movie where "Prof X" and "Magneto" play "Chess" against each other. I was able to re-enact that scene with the new "props" I received.

Monday, August 24, 2015

"Under observation"

Been wanting to do this scene since I saw it in the novel.

I don't make "dioramas" so I used a "cut-out" to replicate the scene instead with just the "Liz Sherman" figure in the "foreground". This is really the beauty of A.C.B.A.

"Hell's Kitchen"

I've been to "Hell's Kitchen" but its nothing like what is depicted in the "Daredevil" comics.
The "Billy Clubs" are from the new DD fig. I wish they had used plastic instead of soft rubber.

Thursday, August 20, 2015

"Origins"

I am a "diehard" fan of the source material so it annoys me when "scriptwriters" choose not to respect the "comics" and do their own storylines. The "cinematic" version of "Hank Pym" seems pretty boring to me so I was puzzled when "The Antman" movie received rave feedback.
I understand that "Hank" had yet to be introduced to the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" but I didn't like how they "credited" the creation of "Ultron" to "Tony Stark". I still consider "Captain America: Winter Soldier" the best "Marvel" movie so far.

"NYC"

NYC is my fav city in the world and "Daredevil" is my fav "Marvel" hero. The 2 go hand in hand so I naturally had to do this display.
This release of DD is way better than the "Spider-Man Classics" version. The only disappointment with this fig is the "Billy Clubs" which are made of soft rubber.

Thursday, August 13, 2015

"HISS!"

Made a "cut-out" specially for this scene. This was an opportunity to have "Elasti Girl" by herself without the members of the "Doom Patrol". The "cat" came with the "Ripley" figure from "Alien".

"Instagram" version with "Antman".

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

"The Claw"

"Lobster Johnson" is one "badass".
Besides being fearless and a "sharpshooter", he burns his "kills" with his "claw" symbol. I'm still terrible with the white "backdrops".

"Johann"

Probably my last entry for the "Whitehot" theme. This time I used "Johann" in a "vanilla" pose with just his "Ectoplasm" hand "prop".
A photo posted by Major Awesome (@majorawesomestoyobservatory) on

"Pancakes"

Got the idea and "cutout" for this display from a "Hellboy" scene from when he was a young boy reading a "comic" while eating "pancakes". This is my 2nd entry for the "Whitehot" theme.

"Soundwave"

Decided to try my hand at the "Whitehot" contest on "Instagram". Used the mini "Soundwave" with a "pigeon" for this scene.

"Banner"

"Kroenen" is one of my fav "Hellboy" character and figure. This is the movie version and I wish "Mezco" had made a comic accurate version before they stopped the line.
The "banner" is from the "Major Maxim" figure from the "Danger Girl" line of toys.

Monday, July 27, 2015

"Time Lab"

Bought a "Globe" and had a few display ideas in mind but ended up revisiting the "Time Lab" display with "Booster" and "Skeets" that I did previously for the WCT.
I really should get more "mileage" out of the custom "chalkboards" that I made besides doing this "lab" scene but I'm reluctant to erase the "wordings" that I wrote.

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

"Livewire"

I took up the challenge from "Jeremy" to open up a MOC figure and I picked "Livewire" from my collection. I had "Livewire" mint inside the packaging for 5 years. This figure was one of the earliest figs that I owned since I started collecting again.
Used the prop that "Jeremy" made for me as it suited the scene I had in mind. This "DC Direct" figure is surprisingly well articulated in the upper torso.

Monday, July 20, 2015

"Strategising"

An actor has been cast for the role of "Mr Terrific" in the TV show "Arrow" and I decided it was time to feature the character in a display.
I didn't want to feature him with the "usual suspects" from the JSA so I had him in discussion with "Batman".

Sunday, July 12, 2015

"Animal Man and Beast Boy"

These 2 are true RUFs because they are really obscure and rarely used especially "Animal Man". "Rick" actually thought he was "Booster Gold". "Beast Boy" has more "Airtime" as a member of the "Doom Patrol" and "Teen Titans".
DC should use "Animal Man" more but this figure is seriously under-rated because the details on it is pretty "sick".

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

"Fire!!!"

Decided to try my hand at the "Fireworks" theme. Went with a generic display where a guy is rescuing his PS from a "fire" in his "apartment".

"Fear"

Been mulling over what to do for the A.C.B.A. "Instagram" contest that ends this coming Sunday. I wanted to focus on the DC75 theme and I ended up setting up this "Sinestro" display over a "Dynamic Duo" display.
I originally planned to do this for the A.C.B.A. "World Championship Tournament" but decided to use it.
A photo posted by Major Awesome (@majorawesomestoyobservatory) on

This is definitely fresher than another "Batman" display.

"Paranormal investigation"

Had the inspiration to do a display with a crying baby and ended up with this setup.
"Roger" is huge so I had to pose him bending over to scale with the ladies. I used a "custom" to represent "Liz Sherman".

Monday, June 29, 2015

"The early bird catches the worm"

Finally opened up my "Claude" figure from "Heroes" just to use the "Pigeon" for this display. "Claude" also came with a "wallet".
This is my first time using the "window" section of the "dio" made by "Jeremy". I'm looking forward to the "Hitman" movie in "August" and that's why I had to do an "Agent 47" scene.

Monday, June 15, 2015

"The Atom"

MSDs are difficult to execute except for characters like "Atom" who can change their size.
Easy to pull off by having him enter the room via the window.

Sunday, June 14, 2015

"Yes?"

Was at the "gym" when I got this idea. It's been awhile since I've done a "Hellboy" display so it was time to pair him with "Abe Sapien".
The "extra" is "Xander" from "Buffy".

Thursday, June 11, 2015

"Chores"

Did this scene with my "custom" made by "Billy" of "Alfred" mopping the "Wayne Manor".
I had the caption "All that tech and I'm still mopping the floor manually..." when I set up this scene.

"Scarecrow: Year One"

The "Year One" series by DC is really a good concept. It is a lengthier version of "Origins" titles from yesteryears.
Saw this "panel" from "Scarecrow: Year One" and decided to put my own "spin" to it.
The "Batman" fig from "Batman and Son" is the best sculpt-wise ever. Pity about the "articulation".
