"Venom"

Got hooked on wanting to do a "Venom" display since viewing this vid.

I was originally supposed to collect "Venom" on Wednesday but eventually collected it yesterday from the seller. He gave me the fig free because he felt bad that I made a wasted trip on Wednesday. Awesome!!! My last addition of 2011.
The fig has minor paint issues on the face but I have no complaints because it is free afterall. The fig came with a stinger tail but I didn't appreciate the look so I chucked the accessory to one side. I originally posed black suited "Spidey" as "Peter Parker" but now have him displayed as "Mac Gargan" from "The Dark Avengers" storyline. I'm keen to explore having a "Dark Avengers" display but characters like "Iron Patriot", "Hawkeye", "The Sentry", "Ares" and "Daken" will be difficult to find.

"Minimates: Trenchcoat Thing & Doombot"

Was inspired by this vid to mix and match 6" figs with "Minimates".

Was hunting for a loose 6" "Deadpool" to pair with a "Minimate" version of the same character just like in the vid but was unsuccessful in securing either. Stumbled across a variant "Minimate" version of the "Thing" and decided to pose it with my "Fantastic Four" series "Thing" which was kind of plain in my display with no accessories.
Nothing much to comment about the "Doombot" but the variant "Thing" comes with a pair of sunglasses though it does not stay on his face so I stuck it into his fist instead. I think the outcome is cool. I will continue searching for the "Minimate" version of "Deadpool" and maybe "Spidey" but I'm either wise done with this line.
Not a bad way to end the day considering that I was played out by an "eBay" seller who was supposed to hand over a "Venom" to me this afternoon.

"Marvel Universe: Sentinel"

"Dr Giggles" stumbled across both the SDCC exclusive "Sentinel" and retail variant on the cheap at "Taka" 2 Saturdays ago. He rang me up and asked if I wanted one. When I found out it was on sale at S$69.90, I did not hesitate to request for one and he handed it over to me today.
The box was not exactly mint but the card is. The comic book colours on the giant fig are pleasing to the eye and is a real steal. It is a nice contrast to my "Marvel Legends" BAF version. "Dr Giggles" has close-ups of the stunning monster.

"Superman/Batman: Despero"

This character was released as a "C&C" figure in the "DC Universe Classics" wave 4 with accessories but I prefer this version from the "Superman/Batman" series. I've only seen this villain in the comics in this exact incarnation once but I'm struggling to recall which storyline now.
This fig is the most expensive "peg warmer" that I have ever bought but it is hefty and rare thus I'm keeping it MISB. This is a present to myself for my birthday. Haha.
I have secured new figs but they have yet to arrive. They will be revealed here when I get my hands on them.

"Wesley Dodds"

The original "Sandman" and mentor to "Sanderson Hawkins". This is one cool character because he offers an interesting contrast to his darker protege with his campy colours and retro suit.
"Vincent" from "Toy Realm" pinged me the other day over "Whatsapp" to ask if I wanted this fig loose because he was building "S.T.R.I.P.E.". I've wanted this fig since I saw the prototype but the paint job and badly glued cape of the end product leaves a bit to be desired. This fig wouldn't have been value for money at the full price.

"Marvel Legends: Black Panther"

Had to perform OT this evening after 8pm so I decided to chill at CSC before that. Was totally prepared to see the usual "peg warmers" on display but I was caught unawares by this fig that I've been wanting for the longest time going for a steal at S$15!!! I did a second take and actually had to verbally confirm the price before grabbing it.
After the recent incident with the "Blue Beetle", I'm keeping this rare fig MISB. The "Black Panther" is the only character I've known who has defeated "Captain America" in battle. He also stands in for the "Daredevil" as the protector of "Hell's Kitchen" for a stint.

"Kingdom Come: Blue Beetle"

Was excited to add this fig to my "Kingdom Come" collection. I already had the "Batman", "Green Lantern", "Hawkman" as well as "The Spectre & Norman McCay" boxset from the same series. The main motivation for securing this fig was for the awesome wings but I was utterly disappointed to find a broken wing upon removing the fig from the mint packaging.
Spoke to the "eBay" seller on the phone to request for a full refund but was only able to secure a partial one. Guess I have to content myself with admiring the wings from this video review.

"Cap vs Red Skull"

The posture of "Cap" bugged me and that prompted me to reposition his arm so that the rifle wasn't so slack.
Awesome!!!

"Marvel Select: Daredevil"

This fig is one of the oldest in my collection. I am a big fan of this character and he was one of the first fig I ran out to buy when I started this hobby.
"Marvel Select" figs have horrible articulation so there was not much I could do with his posing but I managed to augment him into this fighting stance. I may just buy a "Marvel Legends" version and pose him together with "Bullseye".

Black suited "Spidey"

Not too crazy about "Spidey" figs but of all the suits worn by the "webslinger"... my fav is this black suit. I grappled over whether to get this fig before grabbing it together with the other 2 figs.
He has one hand in the typical and boring web shooting pose but I decided to add him into the mediation scene with "Hulk" and "Thor". Not sure if this scene is accurate because I don't know if the black suited "Spidey" ever appears with the "Avengers".

"Manhunter"

Decided to give myself a treat with a tasty "Chicken Wrap" from "O'Brien's" since I got a steal at S$25 for the 3 figs.
There's nothing spectacular about the "Manhunter" but it was too cheap to pass up and is a nice addition to my "Green Lantern" display.

"Red Tornado"

The original intent of heading to CSC today was to collect the "Black Panther" and "Beast"... 2 "Marvel Legends" figs that I have been eyeing for awhile. I ended up collecting neither one they were in terrible condition.
However, my long trip was not wasted as I stumbled across bargains in the "Red Tornado", "Manhunter" and the black suited "Spidey".
The lamest character in the "DC Universe" in my opinion. An "android" that always gets ripped apart by villains in different storylines and ends up needing to be reassembled. Lameness apart, I do have to admit his designs and colours are awesome. Hmmmmm... he looks like a "Traffic Warden" in this pose.

"Sentinel" + "Galactus"

Snapshot of my "Sentinel" with "Galactus" in the backdrop.

Mediation

Just for laughs... I posed "Thor" calming down an agitated "Hulk". Simple scene where I added "Hulk" into the picture.

"Cover Girls of the DC Universe: Catwoman"

Was lazy to take out my "DSLR" so I took a snap of this awesome statue using my "smartphone". This has been in storage for ages and it is now finally on display.
Nice scale compared to the 6" fig of the same character.

"NYCC previews"

"Adam" sent me links to upcoming releases that were revealed at the "New York Comic Convention". My must-have list includes the new "Arkham Asylum" figs like "Killer Croc", "Mr Freeze" and the "Riddler"... the new "52" repackaged "Superman" and "Nightwing".
Sitting on the fence on a few of these. I will have to choose between the 2 "Penguins". "Starfire" is amazing but I'm not desperate to buy her.

"Marvel Select: Thor"

I'm not a fan of this character to be honest. His powers are a bit boring and the way he talks in the comic books irritates me... but I can't deny this suit and sculpt was irresistable.
No harm adding this "Avengers" member to my collection with the others. Looking forward to the movie with "Mark Ruffalo" as the "Hulk". He makes an intriguing "Hulk" versus "Bana" and "Norton".

Battle display

My attempt at creating interesting poses rather than just having my figs standing like statues. Here I have "Spidey" facing off against a charging "Rhino" and fending off the "Green Goblin".
Battle scenes are easy. I will try to think of a non-battle display to create with other characters.

"X2: Nightcrawler" MISB

I owned this fig loose previously but sold it as it has stains all over it. Not my fault but the prior owner's.
I love the look of the character in the movie so I decided to source for a replacement from "eBay". I was successful in securing a replacement MISB at a reasonable price. More backlog due to my house moving and here it is in my display case.

"Marvel Select: Gambit"

A fig that I cracked open before I moved and posed in my new toy cabinet 2 weeks ago but forgot to post about. This fig has an excellent sculpt and flowing jacket that convinced me to cash in on my custom version. The only issue with this fig was the warped leg that was my own doing as I did not pack him properly during my house moving.

"Tim Drake"

Rounding up the shipment from "Adam" is "Tim Drake". I have nothing against "Dick Grayson" but I just prefer him as "Nightwing". "Tim Drake" is my choice as "Robin" versus the whiney and spoilt "Damian Wayne" or "Jason Todd". This fig came with a "Bo Staff" and one "Batarang".
"Adam" is the man. He secretly packed in a freebie for me in the form of the "Batman" from the "Clayface" 2 pack. I slotted the "Batarang" into the "Batman" fig's hand.
Awesome bundle this round.

"C&C: Bane"

I can't say that "Bane" is my fav "Batman" villain but I do own multiple variations of this character. This is the taller and bulkier version of the classic "Bane" versus the awful "DC Superheroes" one. They took heed of fans' complaints about the bent legs.
Nice contrast to the "Arkham Asylum" version too!!! "Adam" sold it to me at a discount. Thanks mate!!!

"Secret Files: Killer Croc"

Difficult fig to find locally and I'm glad that "Adam", my fav toy supplier from the US, kept an eye out for me. He finally notified me of stock he had and I promptly arranged to get it sent over. Worth the wait!!!
The best "Killer Croc" sculpted and released in my opinion. I love the detailing of his bandaged fists and torn pants. His jaw is posable too!!!

"Red Skull"

By far the best "Red Skull" ever produced. My issue with the "Marvel Select" line is their ridiculously huge and environmentally unfriendly packaging that I find is a waste of resources and space. It pains me to buy this line and that reminded me to go email them feedback about it.
There is a slight difference in figure scale making posing with "Marvel Legends" figs a tad inconsistent. I'm seriously considering adding the modern "Cap" to my "Marvel" collection and complimenting the other "Avengers".
Hmmmm... just realised that I left out the new "Gambit" from my updates. Have to remember to take a pic of him soon.

"Brightest Day"

More backlog. I paid for these 2 figs weeks ago and finally collected them. The first "Green Arrow" in my collection and I really like this hooded version versus the classic look. I also like this suit on the "Hawkgirl" versus the comic book variant.
The 2 best figs in the "Brightest Day" line in my humble opinion.

"Arkham Asylum: Bane"

Monstrous fig that "Dr Giggles" has been holding onto for me. It was his post that inspired me to tear open this baby and display him in all his glory.
I'm sooooo blessed that he managed to grab it for me before it was gone. They sculpted him crouching again but this is way better than the "DC Superheroes" version.

"The Thing"

This is a fig from an older "Fantastic Four" series which I was fortunate to get my hands on. I like the sculpting of his rock-like exterior and the dull orange of his "skin".
Not crazy about the accessory so I ditched it.

"Superman/Batman: Supergirl"

I like this "Michael Turner" illustration of "Supergirl". Very "Anime-like" with big eyes. Nice box set that includes a "Superman" and the comic. A pity he passed on so young. I would have been his loyal fan.

"The Blob"

An obscure and grotesquely cool villain if you asked me. I had to rip open "Juggernaut" and "Magneto" to pose with "The Blob" to form "The Brotherhood of Mutants". Nice to have these 2 as bodyguards.
"David" from "Invasion Toys" was kind enough to hold onto this fig for me whilst I was sorting out my packing and moving. Pity that the fig had scratches on him but I couldn't pass on getting it as it is a rare fig to secure.
